COMPETENCY INTERVIEW TRAINING

Interviews increasingly focus on competencies and behaviours and how you can demonstrate them. So while it used to be questions like:

“What makes you a good communicator?”  Now your interview panel will ask:

“Tell us about a specific time where you communicated really effectively.”

Role criteria’s increasingly refer to competencies as the skills that are necessary to achieve effective performance. Competency interview questions are used as a tool to discover how your performance in a previous job may contribute to your future performance in the role being recruited for. The basic theory is that past behaviour in work related situations is a predictor of future performance. Studies have shown this interview technique to be about 5 times more accurate than traditional interview questions when selecting new emplyees.

These behaviour based interview questions require you to provide specific examples of what you have done in the past and are designed to gather detailed evidence.

Initially we help you determine the areas you personally need to focus on in preparation for your competency based interview. We assist you with presentation, body language, harnessing nerves and predicting what your interview panel is going to ask you.

Then we take you through a simulated interview based on the role you are actually applying for and give you direct feedback, tips and strategies on how you can enhance your performance.
